This tribe lives in the north of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. They are about 100000 citizens and a bit more than the half is living in Norway.
They have their own language and their own parlement.
For years, they have been persecuted and were not allowed to speak their own language, to have their own religion or to wear their traditional clothes. That’s why a big majority can’t speak the sami language. Nowadays, the young generation is willing to learn this language and to reconnect with their roots.
Sami people have a nomad life and work with reindeers herding, tourism or handcraft.
Today, you can see some sami flag floating in Norge :
The green is for the plants and the nature
The yellow is for the sun, giving the life
The blue is for the water, elixir of life
The red is for the fire, symbolism of heat and love
The red part of the ring is for the sun, the blue for the moon.
